MYANMAR CONFISCATES 475 TONS OF ILLEGAL TIMBERS

Myanmar authorities said it has seized 474.6 tons of illegal timbers across Myanmar in a week. According to a release from the Forest Department under the country’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, the seizures were made in the country’s regions, states, and the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory from November 30th to December 6th. The seized illegal timbers included 70.9 tons of teak, 114.3 tons of hardwood, and 289.3 tons of other types of timbers. During the period, 53 people were charged in connection with the cases, along with the seizure of 53 vehicles and machines.
