• Vows To Contest 2023 Poll
Prominent lawyer and a member of the All Progressive Congress in Oyo State, Chief Niyi Akintola on Tuesday accused the party of betraying his goodwill in the primaries leading to the emergence of the party’s governorship candidate in 2019.
Akintola said though he felt betrayed, he is still poised to contest the governorship election in 2023.
He was speaking at a programme organized by the online publishers in South-West in Ibadan.
Bayo Adelabu, a banker and former Deputy Governor who eventually emerged candidate of the party lost the election to incumbent Engr. Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He said “I felt betrayed. I knew what was going to be the implication. I saw myself in the same position late Chief Bola Ige found himself in 1998. Bola Ige had always been with the progressives. He had done a lot. I looked at myself that with all I have done. Most of her are beneficiaries of my goodwill.
“Imagine giving ticket to someone who joined our party in April and got the ticket in August. And you expect me to be clapping. How would you have felt if you were in my shoes.”
The APC in Oyo has been positioning itself to ensure the removal of Makinde come 2023.
